What’s Free — And What Powers the Project

VeilRift, believes in storytelling first. That’s why all lore content—including setting, factions, timelines, classes, races, and magic—is available completely free on the website.

Every page you explore, every class you read, and every floating island you discover has been crafted to immerse you in the world of Aetheria with zero paywalls. This is worldbuilding for worldbuilders.

But storytelling at this scale requires time, tools, and community support. That’s where our stats and systems come in.

What’s Paid — And Why

While the lore remains free, the stat blocks, gameplay mechanics, subclass rules, progression tables, and systems will be paywalled behind a secure login system.

This does two things:

1. Keeps the lights on — Hosting, writing, illustrating, and expanding VeilRift is a full-time endeavor.

2. Gives value back to supporters — Those who contribute get advanced access to the systems and gameplay features that make VeilRift come alive at the table.

You’ll always know which sections are free and which are part of a purchased tier. And if you’d like to support the project, there’s a donate button to the right, or you can join the upcoming Kickstarter (more on that below!).

The Plan Moving Forward

We're building VeilRift in waves to ensure consistency, quality, and magic in every detail.

Phase 1 — In Progress:

• Full Lore Sections on all major topics

• Completed and mobile-ready class pages like the Chronoguard, Aetherbound Warder, and Aether Sentinel

• Dozens of original artworks generated, refined, and embedded into each experience

Phase 2 — Coming Soon:

• Stats Pass: Once all lore is complete for the full VeilRift Codex, we’ll be returning to build and publish all mechanical content behind the secure member area. We will be doing a balancing pass at this point as well based on community feedback for class stats.

• This includes rulesets, abilities, progression paths, class and subclass mechanics, and magic systems.

Phase 3 — Coming Soon:

• Digital Product Packaging: All lore + stats will be compiled into clean, downloadable PDFs available within your account’s library.

• We’ll offer bundled access by class, by setting, or by campaign theme.

Phase 4 — Kickstarter Launch:

We’ll be launching a Kickstarter to help:

• Fund the first print run of physical books

• Launch Phase 2 of VeilRift: The Marketplace

The VeilRift Marketplace

This is the future of VeilRift—a vibrant, creator-powered ecosystem.

We’re building a dynamic marketplace platform that allows DMs, players, artists, writers, mapmakers, composers, and game designers to contribute to the world of VeilRift and earn revenue doing it.

Here's how it will work:

Creator-Focused Revenue

• The majority of income from Marketplace sales goes directly to content creators

• We will only take a small cut to maintain infrastructure and handle curation/promotion

Community Voting & Seasonal Themes

• Each season, we’ll launch community voting polls on theme prompts. The community ultimately decides which themes are chosen for each season

• Players and creators get to enjoy content built with the new season in mind by the community, and the VeilRift staff

• Top-voted creations in each section will get featured placement, and winning works will be compiled in Seasonal Anthology Collections

Seasonal Anthologies

• Community-submitted and officially curated content will be bundled into seasonal PDF anthologies, and added to the Riftbinder Codex going forward noting credit where it is due

• Think of them as limited-edition lore and adventure books that evolve the world, written by us together
